Mary Krupa from Penn State University has an uncanny ability to attract squirrels. Mary who has become a sensation in the University and the media, is better known as the ‘Squirrel Whisperer’.
She will be graduating to her Senior year this fall. When she was a freshman, she realized that squirrels allowed her to feed and caress them. Thereafter, she started dressing them in cute outfits and photographed them in a series dedicated to Easter, St. Patrick’s Day, Halloween and Christmas etc. She uses anything from paper hats to tiny sunglasses.
Youtube interviewed her and she stated that she is an animal lover and the squirrels at Penn State are really amicable. Hence, she thought if the squirrels let her touch them, she could try to put hats on them.
She also mentioned that the squirrel Sneezy is not just one but four female Easter gray squirrels. The one that cooperates and lets her capture them with cute costumes, is Sneezy for the day. She also notes that unless you spend a lot of time around squirrels, you can never differentiate one from the other.
She also runs a Facebook page for the squirrels called Sneezy The Penn State Squirrel. The custom-made dresses, hats and props that she uses for squirrels, add an interesting element to the photographs, especially during holidays.
