Booking.com has released a list of the top 10 most unique Canadian accommodations you can stay in, from a rotating house, to a restored jail, to even a good old fashion mountain lodge on the East Coast.

It’s a great place to get centred and discover life.
HI Ottawa Jail Hostel, Ontario.
This former jailhouse is now a hostel. Located right beside the Ottawa Convention Centre and Rideau Centre mall, this one has some quirky charm. Each room features free wi-fi and there’s a daily continental breakfast. The rooms were former cells, but the victorian architecture and hardwood floors will set you at ease, and you can visit the common areas and the former jail library to borrow books.
Trout Point Lodge, Nova Scotia.
If rustic isolation is what you’re looking for, then the Trout Point Lodge is your destination. This is a remote, wilderness lodge next to the Tobeatic Wilderness Area outside of East Kemptville, Nova Scotia. Every room offers either a river or a forest view, and the lodge itself is made of Eastern Spruce Logs, granite and sandstone. While staying there, you can’t miss the outdoor barrel sauna or cedar wood heated hot tub, as well as the fishing, hiking and canoeing. This is the way to be one with nature.
The Zzzmoose Camping Cabins, Nova Scotia.
These cabins in Birch Plain, NS are essentially insulated, wooden tents with a shaded deck, and are also heated for year-round use. Each room includes 3 beds within the cabin itself and a 3 piece bathroom just situated outside the tents for that authentic camping feel. Nearby you have the Dancing Moose Cafe to serve breakfast, lunch and dinner, where you can look at the Atlantic ocean or stare up at the stars.
Rockwater Secret Cove Resort, British Columbia.
Looking like it’s straight from Endor or an Avatar film, is this secret treehouse complex in Halfmoon Bay, BC. Each room offers a private terrace with a soaker tub, bathrobes and each room has it’s own fridge. There’s also a restaurant on site. On the complex itself you can book bikes, take yoga classes, play horseshoes, bocce ball and beach volleyball with other guests, or hit up the spa and relax. This is a premium getaway and a great place to stay.
