While some are born stars, others climb the ladder of stardom one step at a time. TV celebrities come in the second category. After successful stints in the telly world, many aspire to make it to the silver screen. And like every year, 2015 also saw some smashing Bollywood debuts of famous TV stars.

The latest to join this brigade is television’s chocolate boy Arjun Bijlani of Naagin fame, as he will be making his debut with Direct Ishq very soon. In the meantime, let’s take a look at some telly celebs who made their big Bollywood debuts in 2015.

1. Kapil Sharma

After a lot of delay, this funny man finally made a silver screen debut with Abbas-Mastan’s film Kis Kis Ko Pyaar Karoon. In fact, Kapil got the golden opportunity to romance not one actress but 4 in this comedy flick! Although the film was average, it did well at the box office. All thanks to his humongous fan following!

2. Karan Singh Grover

He is perhaps the biggest surprise package of this year. From setting the silver screen on fire with his horror film debutAlone to being called the significant man in actress Bipasha Basu’s life, Karan Singh Grover has hogged all the limelight the entire year. His claim to fame has obviously been the serial Dil Mill Gaye in which he played a doctor. This TV hunk did not just stop at one movie this year. He played a baddie in his second film Hate Story 3 which also starred Sharman Joshi, Zarine Khan and Daisy Shah. The film managed to garner quite an amazing response at the box office.

3. Gurmeet Choudhary

TV’s ‘Ram’ Gurmeet Choudhary entered the Bollywood world in a supernatural horror Khamoshiyan. Directed by Vikram Bhatt, this film also had Ali Fazal. Gurmeet, who has done several soaps and reality shows, received a good response at the box office. From playing Lord Ram to a ghost, the man has done it all.

4. Vikrant Massey

After playing an ideal husband in popular TV show Balika Vadhu, Vikrant Massey made his debut with Zoya Akhtar’s Dil Dhadakne Do. Even though it was just a character role, he managed to make his presence felt. Massey also starred in a few short films which went viral this year. He recently turned producer with a short film titled ’35mm’. Vikrant will next be seen in Konkona Sen’s directorial debut film Death at the Gunj.

5. Barun Sobti

Starring in popular soap Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon, Barun Sobti became so popular that people started recognising him with his screen name Arnav more than his real name. It garnered the highest TRPs during the course of the show. He then disappeared, only to come back and surprise his fans with his debut film Main Aur Mr Right. In fact, keeping in mind the popularity of his serial, the second season of Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon will be aired very soon.

6. Harshaali Malhotra

The cute girl who won everyone’s heart with Bajrangi Bhaijaan played a lead in a TV serial prior to her big Bollywood debut. She played Trisha in the show Laut Aao Trisha and managed to grab many eyeballs. Her grand debut alongside Salman Khan made her a known face globally. So much so that she even had a photo mention in Salman’s family filmPrem Ratan Dhan Payo.

7. Shweta Tripathi

Although she wasn’t a renowned face in the telly world, her show on Disney channel Kya Mast Life Hai was quite popular. She made her Bollywood debut with the award winning film Masaan. The film got great reviews from the critics and was a super hit globally. Her film received a lot of international acclaim for a bold plot and stellar performances. Shweta couldn’t have asked for a better Bollywood debut!

8. Arjun Bijlani

The brooding soldier of Left Right Right is a biggie in the telly world. With several hit serials to his credit, this TV actor is all set to enter B-Town with a film called Direct Ishq. The trailer was recently launched and has received a tremendous response all across social media platforms.

9. Raghav Juyal

This is one guy who is popular for his face, and not his name. Although he is not your conventional TV personality, he is regularly seen in various dance reality shows. He rose to fame with his killer dance moves on Dance India Dance. So much so that he is now called the King of Slow Motion. He made his Bollywood debut with Remo D’Souza’s film ABCD 2. Although it was a character role, he managed to grab a lot of appreciation with his realistic acting skills and of course, his dance.
