Nathen Steffel from Ohio, is a grieving father of his 6 weeks old baby girl, Sophia who passed away last week. He posted a heart-rending Photoshop request for his baby girl on Reddit for removing the medical tubing from her daughter’s photograph. Since she had spent her 6 weeks of life in the hospital, he did not have any photos of her without the tubes.
His post on Reddit: Photoshop Request: My daughter recently passed away after a long battle in the children’s hospital. Since she was in the hospital her whole life we never were able to get a photo without all her tubes. Can someone remove the tubes from this photo?
Sophia had hepatic hemangioma, a type of liver tumor. While speaking to Buzzfeed, he said that this condition was diagnosed during an early ultrasound but he did not know how bad it would be. Since birth, Sophia was hospitalized at Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus, Ohio, and then was later moved to Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center. She was on the waiting list for a new liver when she deceased due to complications involving the pressure on her abdomen due to hemangioma.

He got an overwhelming response from Reddit and imgur users. With more than 3000 heartfelt comments and several Photoshop images, Nathan Steffel (steffel07 on Reddit) told Buzzfeed, “I just wanted to reach out to get at least one quality picture. I was amazed how many people responded. We have so many nice pictures now.”
He thanked the Reddit users for the drawings, sketches and photos of the baby girl placed in various settings without the tubes. “This is really amazing. Everyone you have made my day. All I wanted was a nice picture. What I received was a lot of love and support from a bunch of strangers. A long with a lot of great photos, drawings and paintings. Thanks everyone!”
The most popular photograph was edited by Reddit user ‘Funkybrewster’ who altered the colors to make the baby girl look healthy.
He wrote on Reddit, “This is super late but I really wanted to help out too. Here’s my attempt. I hope I didn’t overdo it on the color correction.”
