If you are planning a vacation in the United States, it has to be in this cute cabin. These rustic cabins are designed by Dan Pauly who has inherited his artisan skills from his great grandfather Henry (the pioneer of making barns in Central Minnesota after he emigrated to the States in the late 19th century). Some of the barns that his great grandfather built can still be seen.
He is based in Minnesota and crafts these rustic cabins from reclaimed wood. He builds outhouses, birdhouses, saunas, garden sheds, guest cottages, playhouses, squirrel feeders, bird feeders and warming houses etc with his signature chimney style roof.
Dan states on his website, ““As I uncover an old barn or shed, I realize that it could be the same lumber that my great-grandfather used more than 100 years ago. I think that respect for the craftsmen and craftswomen
of the past, and for the wood they used, make a difference in each new piece I create. Until you have dismantled an old barn, you can’t imagine the painstaking effort it took from Old-World craftsmen to erect it. They were each a work of art.[source]
The buildings have fascinating interiors with the necessary furnishings along with picturesque exteriors. It is like you are in a hobbit land or fairy land. They can be shipped since they only measure 8′, 10′ or 12′ in height (from overhang to overhang). They can either be insulated as in sauna or not for garden sheds. They have two windows and a working chimney and lighting fixtures.
Dan has also started offering beautifully designed kitchen islands, entertainment cabinets and taxidermy products on his website.
